Multi-national Studies

Color Horizontal Divider
A multi-national study defining the key competencies of incarcerated individuals for reintegration and socialisation, as well as the currently available methods for developing the key competencies of incarcerated persons
[02]

New competency assessment method

In order to see and measure the actual level of skills defined in the previous activity, the partner organisations will develop a new and innovative assessment method for this purpose, as well as a guide on how to use it. The goal is to create a tool that is suitable for skills analysis and assessment of individuals in detention, tailored to the needs and environment of correctional facilities.
[03]

New Sports Method

Based on the previously defined key competencies and skills, the project partners will develop a new sports method aimed at supporting the skills development of incarcerated individuals. The requirements for this new sports method will be collected and analysed from prisons across all participating countries.

The sport will be designed to meet the specific needs of prison environments, incorporating features such as non-contact rules, basic equipment, and simple gameplay. It will also emphasise essential values for incarcerated individuals’ rehabilitation, including respect, patience, teamwork, attention, and serenity.

Capacity building for officers and trainers

This result focuses on  enhancing the capacity of prison officers and trainers to implement a new assessment and sports method designed to develop incarcerated individuals’ competencies.

Evaluation Study

To assess the effects of the newly developed sports method and track the development of incarcerated individuals’ skills, project participants will apply the new assessment method in partner prisons before and after the intervention. The competencies of participating individuals will be evaluated both prior to and after the 6-month-long development program to measure improvements and the impact of the project’s methodology.

Policy Recommendations

Recommendations for policy reform at the national and EU levels to ensure the sustainable implementation of sports-based competency programmes in prisons.

Expert network with European prisons

Color Horizontal Divider
During the project’s lifetime, a network of prison officers, trainers, and experts in correctional and educational fields will be collected, contacted and established. The study, based on the results of the skills development program and other project deliverables,  will be shared with the network of experts.

The aim is to initiate a forum where international good practices on prisoner rehabilitation can be shared and discussed, as well as to involve further correctional facilities in the competency development program established by the project.
