Aims to develop, implement and evaluate a new innovative sports-based method to assess and enhance the competencies of people in custody, while also training prison staff and trainees to apply the method effectively, supporting rehabilitation efforts |
The consortium includes a sports federation, a sports club, a scientific research organisation, two adult education institutions, and a consulting firm specialised in justice and correctional facilities for juvenile and adult prisoners as associated partners
O B J E C T I V E S
By developing and implementing a new and innovative sports-based rehabilitation method for incarcerated individuals, the Sport4Prisons project seeks to improve the quality of activities and practices within organisations working with individuals in custody – while also addressing key European priorities in education, training, youth and sports.

The project’s specific objectives are:
■ To define the key competences of incarcerated individuals for reintegration and socialisation
■ To develop a new assessment method for these key competences
■ To create a new sports-based method to help incarcerated individuals develop their key competences
■ To train prison officers and trainers in the new assessment and sports method, supporting the competence development
■ To implement the new sports method in prisons as part of a competence development programme
■ To evaluate the competence development programme and assess the progress of incarcerated individuals
■ To establish an international expert network among European prisons at the operational level to share
